Why are body brushes and scrubs beneficial?

Beauty and womenís magazines the world over advise that you use body brushes and scrubs in your skincare regime, but what are they and why should you be using them?

Exfoliation is the process whereby dead skin cells and dirt are removed. By doing this, the skin is left looking and feeling vibrant, glowing and healthy. The skinís absorbency is also improved which means that moisturizers can soak into the skin more easily.

To get the most out of skin brushing you should use a dry, natural bristle brush or an abrasive mitt. The process of skin brushing should be done with short, brisk movements in the direction of the heart. By doing this, you are encouraging the movement of lymph.

If you are planning a trip to the Spa or simply an Aromatherapy massage, you should try to exfoliate prior to your visit. This will maximise the effects of the massage oils and creams.
